Qualification and Designation of Members
A Member, also referred to as a Program Member, is an organization that (i) provides, within the state of Michigan, comprehensive medical rehabilitation programs; for this purpose, a comprehensive medical rehabilitation program is any program of services that is any combination of not less than three of the following: physical therapy, occupational therapy, rehabilitation nursing, speech language pathology, social work, vocational counseling, therapeutic recreation, and psychological services designed to assist a patient to live in a community environment at maximum functional ability; and (ii) has completed a written application and filed such application with the Corporation; and (iii) has been approved as a Member by action of the board; and (iv) meets the requirements for membership as designated from time to time by the Board of Directors of the Corporation.
Organizations who maintain comprehensive medical rehabilitation services as described above at more than one site will have separate voting members to represent those sites and will be responsible for maintaining separate membership for each site. Voting members shall pay yearly dues. The yearly dues are due by December 31 of each year, and if are not received by the second regular meeting of the year, the member will no longer have access to MAMPRA website, will no longer receive MAMPRA emails, and cannot attend MAMPRA meetings. There will be no proration of dues. A member may pay the dues for the following year prior to the regular 4th quarter meeting, thus allowing attendance at the 4th quarter meeting for that member. A visitor is a guest of a member or associate member. Visitors will pay the cost of lunch. Visitors who attend 2 or more times during one fiscal year will pay the cost of all luncheons for the year.
An Affiliate Member (additional representative to a Program Member)
An Affiliate Member also referred to as an additional representative of a Program Member, is an additional member of an organization referred to in the section above. The Affiliate Member will have no voting rights (unless representing the Program Member), may not serve as a member of the Board and will pay the Affiliate membership dues.
An Associate Member
Also referred to as an Associate Program Member, is an individual (i) who is a physician (MD or DO), physical therapist, physical therapist assistant, occupational therapist, occupational therapy assistant, speech-language pathologist, registered nurse, social worker, psychologist, or recreational therapist; and (ii) has completed a written application and filed such application with the Corporation; and (iii) has been approved as a Member by action of the board; and (iv) meets the requirements for membership as designated from time to time by the Board of Directors of the Corporation. An individual may become an associate member, if she/he is a professional in one of the services noted above but is not a member of an organization providing these services. The associate member will have no voting rights, may not serve as a member of the Board, and will pay the full membership dues. One representative of a Michigan based professional organization related to rehabilitation services, including, but not limited to ARN, APTA Michigan, Michigan Occupational Therapy Association, and Michigan Speech Language Hearing Association may join MAMPRA as an associate member (no voting privileges). One representative from each professional organization is allowed per year.
An organization or associate member will become a Member as of the date designated in the action approving such organization as a Member.
Termination of Membership
A Member may, at any time, resign and terminate Membership by written notice to the Corporation. Each Member who, as of any date, no longer meets the qualifications for membership as described above will cease to be a Member as of the date, designated by the Board of Directors of the Corporation that such Member ceased to meet such qualifications.
